DR BEAU Ferndale

A collection of melodies and lyrics I try not to forget

“Somebody told him no one would notice. As he carved his way through the morning sun. His mamma scold him, it’s time to focus. But he longed for his mourning son.”

This was written with a friend. It’s a song with two stories combining. I had lyrics for the maid in white, but needed the man in the shadow to make it complete.

The Outlaw song explores a completely fictional story of a lawman‘s world turned upside down in a 3 minute song.

I wrote this one, day-dreaming sitting our the front porch in New Hampshire. It was a cold ass day.

Champagne Eyes

Here is an oldy I have had kicking around for years. It's a young love song at heart.

Similar Goodbye

Similar Goodbye is a Buffalo 40 classic. It is one of the first songs we ever recorded.

Wash Me Away

I am not a piano player by any means. This song has had a couple iterations over the years. The ending was something laying around that was patched into the meat of the existing song with some progressions and lyrics changed or added. To me it made sense on the keys.

Blooming on Graves

The first notes I have on this song are from 2016. It has remained pretty true to the original form. I wrote it as lose retrospective on society at the time. I think.

so he played me a tune

This was written one morning after a vivid dream about my father. He had passed away about 2 years prior. I am not usually one to remember my dreams at all so for this one to be so vivid it was something special. It was the image of him with a gigantic smile at the piano and wearing this red coat. I’ll never forget it and it makes me smile whenever I envision it. I had the melody kicking around and the words just fell out telling the story.
